Lantau Forum as a medium of exchange between people on the island who share common interests with the intention of building bridges and fermenting solidarity among organisations and groups and bringing them into contact with each other and those individuals working for the general good yet suffering from the systemic isolation that has resulted from a money and power fragmented society.
We held a meeting at NT Heung Yee Kuk Southern District Secondary School, Mui Wo, on 30th June, 2007, in Cantonese and English, where we discussed the various points of view of people on local issues. We shared same among us. We had recommendations and the summaries from all the Tables were announced in synthesis.
Following the meeting an email exchange platform was set up which continues running and deals with Lantau Island affairs. This service is well used when there is a pressing moment, as in local elections, or government projects that affects everyone directly.
There is another email service running along the same lines dealing with Hong Kong related affairs. (see below). There is yet another email service running along the same lines dealing with Asia-Pacific affairs. (see below)
