Jak and Robert Ollet – Technical and Creative Directors of Eudaimon
“We like to find ways that make people think or feel more positive about the world”, Jak and Robert Ollet.
What is your job about?
We are an urban design practice with a focus on bringing sustainability into the city. All of our projects have a combination of technology, clean environmental technology and horticulture. There are different balances and differences on emphasis for each project. Our mission in everything that we do is to inspire flourishing living through design. We like to find ways that make people think or feel more positive about the world. We like to make cities greener and healthier. We create vertical gardens, design technology and create sustainable solutions for cities.
What issues do you address?
We address the disconnect between people and nature and we want to bring back the harmony.
We address sustainable design within a city landscape and try to make it less obvious, such as vertical gardens on buildings.
We encourage people to use drinking fountains rather than buying bottled water.
What moved you into action?
I spent a winter in a cabin in the Swedish countryside living very basically. It was just after the 2011 IPCC report and I began to realize the extent of the situation. I had studied philosophy but I wanted to do something which involved a more practical application of my skills.
We wanted to help people to connect to nature, and gardening is just an aspect of what we do.
What helped you keep going in hard times?
Determination, Family, and Strong trust between us is vital, you need people around you who remind you just what you are trying to achieve.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being very happy) where would you rate how you feel about your life?
