Bristol Quest Summary
Conducting the Earth Champions Quest in Bristol region has been very rewarding, especially as there was an excellent response from the community.
Conducting the Earth Champions Quest in Bristol region has been very rewarding, especially as there was an excellent response from the community. There were 127 nominations with 71 awarded Earth Champions and 35 Outstanding Earth Champions across our eight categories of Water, Air, Energy, Biodiversity, Transport, Built Environment Waste Minimisation and Wellbeing.
We were delighted with the outcome and the number of extraordinary people who are actively working to make Bristol region a better place.
Over the past 12 years our Foundation has incorporated a ‘Happiness Index’ into the interview process. We have interviewed hundreds of people and discovered that the nominees are exceptionally happy with their lives (whether or not they are paid or even recognised). We think these people are real and inspiring role models for our communities and our children. From the Bristol region nominees we had an average happiness score of 8.5 out of 10. People said they loved their work and ‘know it is the right thing to do’.
The Earth Champions Foundation works in partnerships with The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), The International Union Conservation of Nature (IUCN), WIPO World Intellectual Property Organisation and Bristol Council. We are a member of the Bristol 2015 Partnership.
The Earth Champions Foundation gratefully acknowledges support from Bird &Bird, Nextek, IKEA, Bristol Council , First Great Western, Healing Herbs, AB Wellness Coaching, The Bordeaux Quay, University of the West of England and Bristol Zoo Gardens.
